Did you know that April is the month of the diamond? The diamond you have on your finger is the oldest thing in your house and formed up to 2.5 billion years ago.
It is the only gemstone made of a single element, 99.595% carbon. The quality of a diamond depends on the absence of color. No other gemstone does that. Rubies and sapphires value is dependent on their color, but a diamonds value stems in part from the absence of color.
The word "Diamond" comes from the Greek word "adamastos" meaning invincible or unbreakable. The diamond is the strongest element known to man. Giving a diamond to a person suggest the "strength" of a relationship and it's "indestructibility" in the face of adversity.
